SOLO IS IN BIRMINGHAM AND SOLIHULL’S TOP 50 BY TURNOVER GROWTH

A new report by auditors BDO has put Solo Rail Solutions in the top 50 companies.

Solo Rail’ have acquired the accolade being the 26^th fastest growing company in Birmingham and Solihull by returning a growth of 26% based from its T/O result of £10.6 million.

Solo is one of the fastest-growing businesses in the region  based on average three-year growth rates.

Solo has continued to invest to drive growth. The exacting standards of its clients means the rail manufacturer has always had to invest in new machinery. And recently the company has been happy to spend on wood working technology and paint booths, plus additional units for its new rail seat manufacturing enterprise at its Long Acre Trading Estate headquarters.

“This has allowed us to bring more of the required work under our control, so there is no need to outsource any area of manufacturing, welding, painting and so on,” says David Hunt, Solo’s managing director.

“We can provide a complete turnkey solution to our clients, which isn’t something all our competitors can claim.” Birmingham has helped to support the growth of the businesses. Solo, recently had a Birmingham Growth Hub grant approved for a £270,000 investment, creating 16 new jobs.

The grant will provide £135,000 (50% of spend) towards a new five-axis router and saws plus two wet paint booths.“Grants are readily available, for example from HS2 an and local government,” noted Dave Hunt.
